A Hidden Danger
Keratoconus is often thought of as a rare adult disease, but recent studies show it affects 1 in 375 children. It is a progressive condition where the cornea thins and bulges, leading to permanent vision loss if untreated.
Why School Screenings Fail
School vision screenings only check for visual acuity (reading the chart). They cannot detect the subtle structural changes of early keratoconus. By the time a child complains of blurry vision, significant damage may have already occurred.
The "Rubbing" Risk
Does your child rub their eyes frequently? Eye rubbing is a major risk factor for developing and worsening keratoconus. If your child has allergies and rubs their eyes, they are at higher risk.
Protect Their Future
We use advanced corneal topography to map the surface of the eye. This painless, non-invasive scan can detect keratoconus years before it affects vision. Early detection allows us to use Corneal Cross-Linking to stop the disease in its tracks.
