A Lens Like No Other
Scleral lenses are large-diameter rigid gas permeable lenses. But unlike old-fashioned "hard contacts," they are incredibly comfortable. Why? Because they never touch the sensitive cornea.
How They Work
The lens vaults over the entire cornea and rests on the sclera (the white part of the eye). The space between the lens and the eye is filled with a sterile saline solution.
Two Problems, One Solution
- For Keratoconus: The fluid layer masks the irregular shape of the cornea, creating a perfect optical surface. Patients often go from legal blindness to 20/20 vision instantly.
- For Dry Eye: The saline reservoir keeps the eye bathed in moisture all day long. It's like a therapeutic bandage that protects the eye from the environment and heals the surface.
