At Eyecare Center of Orange County, Dr. Alexander Bonakdar has cared for patients for more than three decades. Trained at Bascom Palmer, board certified, and trusted by more than ten thousand Orange County patients since nineteen ninety one.
A stye is a small gland at the lash line that has blocked and become infected. It is tender and red, and comes up over a day or two.
Heat is what actually works. A warm compress held on for several minutes, a few times a day, softens the blockage so the gland can drain.
Sometimes a firm, painless lump remains for weeks after the soreness goes. That is a chalazion. It is trapped oil rather than active infection.
Please do not squeeze it. That spreads infection into the lid. If it is not shrinking after a few weeks, we can treat it properly.
If a lid lump has not gone after a few weeks, ask us. There are simple treatments that work well.
