Ocular telangiectasias - dilated blood vessels appearing on the whites of the eyes - are pathognomonic and typically appear between ages 5-8. Oculomotor apraxia, the inability to smoothly move the eyes from one point to another, is an early defining symptom that significantly impacts reading and daily activities.
