Understanding Rx Sunglasses

About Rx Sunglasses

Almost any sunglass frame in our optical can be made with your prescription. We take the measurements in our Santa Ana office, match the lens design to the frame, and have the lenses cut at our partner lab. We call you as soon as your sunglasses are ready to pick up and fit.

Lens options for prescription sunglasses. Single vision, progressive (no-line bifocal) and polarized lenses are all available as sunglasses, together with light-adaptive lenses, gradient tints and mirror coatings. Polarized lenses cut the reflected glare that comes from the road, water and snow. Every sunglass lens we dispense blocks UVA and UVB light.

Choosing a frame that takes a prescription. Most frames do. A strongly curved wrap frame needs a lens design built for that curve, which we check when we fit you, so a wrap or sport sunglass still gives clear vision from edge to edge.

Do sunglasses need a new prescription? An eye exam within the last year is the usual basis for prescription sunglasses. If yours is older, we can do the exam on the same visit you choose your frames. Eyecare Center OC is at 801 N Tustin Ave, Santa Ana, CA 92705.
